Four things to consider
Desk posture
Tension headaches (the type with muscle tightness up the back that goes into the scalp), are the most common type of headache and are often strongly linked to poor posture.
One of the biggest mistakes is having your monitor too close and too low. Your monitor should be at an arm length away and the height of your monitor at the same level as your eyes.
Choosing a desk chair
The back of the chair should be reclined back just a little behind 90 degrees.
The chair should allow your feet to sit flat on the ground.
The chair should allow your hips to be slightly higher than your knees.
When you’re sitting on your chair, your arms should be relaxed so they are horizontal to the ground.
Mouse and keyboard placement
Incorrect placement of the keyboard and mouse can put a massive strain on the neck and shoulders, which can lead to headaches.
Your keyboard and mouse should be positioned right in front of you.
A common mistake people make is having the mouse way out to the side, doing this can really over strain the shoulder. Learning keyboard shortcuts is helpful, so you're using the mouse less all together.
Consider a sit and stand desk
It’s important to still make sure the keyboard and monitor are at the correct height (as mentioned above). Standing properly with even weight distribution and your knees relaxed.
Benefits of a Sit and Stand set up:
Increase energy and productivity, improve mood, increase mental focus and improve posture (with correct ergonomics).
